PSYCHOLOGICAL AND COUNSELLING SERVICES UNIT

Welcome to the DDT College of Medicine (DDTCOM) Psychological and Counselling Services Unit. Understanding that college life can be stressful, the Directorate of Student Affairs through the Psychological and Counselling Services Unit strives to maintain its learners’ good mental health. The aim is to provide learners (irrespective of their different backgrounds) with the necessary support, so that they may be better able to effectively and successfully navigate the ever increasing demands of college environment. It is the DDTCOM’s wish that its learners develop to become intellectually mature and socially conscious human beings, and better yet health professionals! We as the Psychological and Counselling Services Unit are working around the clock to realize this dream which is equally reflected within the college’s Student Mental Health Strategic Plan.

The DDT College of Medicine (DDTCOM) Psychological and Counselling Services Unit is a facility that has been put in place to provide the DDTCOM community (learners and staff) with the necessary psychological and counselling support services. The Psychological and Counselling Services Unit passionately beliefs in the notion that in order for a learner to develop to their fullest potential, they should be provided with holistic care and support within their educational environment. Holistic care and support is intended to cater for the learner’s educational and/or intellectual needs, as well as their physical, emotional, psycho-social and developmental needs.
